If your idea of a “good” Christian fiction book is a happy ending with no substance, we’re not the same.
But if you crave stories that make you rethink everything, that infuriate you, that cause uncomfortable ugly-cry sessions, and that leave you talking with that fictional accent for days, welcome to the club.

If it’s not raw, emotional, thought-provoking,
or interesting I won’t waste
your time with it.
Heeeeyyy, I’m Ismery and I’m done with fluff.

The truth is…
There’s a whole world of powerful, life-changing Christian fiction out there.
You just have to know where to look. And that’s exactly what I’m here to do.
Wait a sec, who are you?
Wait a sec, who are you?
I’m Ismery (pronounced like “is-merry-christmas”)
I’m a big-mouth, unapologetic, quasi-trilingual, island-born girl living in the freedom Jesus bought for me. I’m passionate about books that make me feel, think, and sometimes scream. If it doesn’t make me ponder, laugh, cry, or feel reaaaallly good, you won’t find it here.
Not-So-Frequently Asked Questions…

Absolutely. And I don’t just say that because I love books. There is a depth to a plot that can only be explored in words. Movies excite the brain but don’t leave room for mental wanderings. If a character is described with the deepest chocolate eyes in a sea of green and sky, I can imagine any eyes I want. A movie robs the imagination.

You asked to go there. Think about the good classics. They’re classics not because they were produced hundreds or dozens of years ago. They’re classics because they revolutionized whatever was standard in their generations. They trascend cultural barriers, either by being translated in a bunch of languages OR by different cultures KNOWING ABOUT THE SONG! They’re still relevant and fun in today’s generations. Tell me, I want to know at least TEN Christian songs that my children’s children will love when they’re 20, besides Yeshua and The Goodness of God. I mean, really.

This is gonna be a mouthful and there are a couple of things to define before even answering the question. First, a book. The written word is a beautiful thing when done properly.
Second, fiction. Good fiction is NOT unbelievable. We’re not talking about fairy tales here. Good fiction is intriguing, it explores deep concepts that nonfiction books sometimes take too long to explore. It’s one-sided and yet explores the deepest motives of many characters. My issue here is with good christian fiction. Not everything has to be graceful and cute. Faith is messy. Faith in God is not always feel-good. A good faith-based fiction story OR a nonfiction that’s actually interesting can change the mindset of people. Think about that.
So when you’re craving perspective and thought-provoking stories that burst your little bubble, predictable endings will. not. cut. it.
I like reading your thoughts.
